"These hands of mine have held a lot. I have shook the hands of presidents,
I have held a newborn baby. I have felt the finest fabrics and touched the
world's most precious stones. I have used these hands to caress the face of
someone I love, and dig a ditch, and use an axe. These hands have molded a
piece of clay and built something out of wood. Yet at no time are these hands,
more powerful, or sensitive, or loving, or as earth shattering, as when they
hold my camera. You see, a camera, in the right hands, can shape the thoughts
of the world. It can make something ordinary into something extraordinary,
it can record forever what happens in a split second. A camera in the right
hands can move a moutain and then cease the movement of time. A camera in
the right hands can say words that have never been spoken, create a language
of thought and vision that every person on the face of the earth can understand.
We are the image makers, we see what the world takes for granted and we create
what the world has never seen. We create images that will live in peoples
memories forever, we create images from the heart."
